From September through May, I look forward to going to the Old Town Scottsdale Farmer's Market every Saturday morning. I go with a list of ingredients for a few planned meals, but I also look around for what looks special, delicious and seasonal...and pick up something unexpected. I then decide what I will make with it when I get home. So, I generally start a little of my meal planning on Saturday mornings before heading to the market, and I finish the rest of it after going. This week, there were some juicy looking persimmons, and the portabell0 mushrooms and zucchini looked super fresh, as did some chiles...so those were my "impulse" buys. I also purchased some fish from the Alaskan Fish co., and some frozen beef and pork belly from a local farm. Those were on my "list" so glad they were available!
I also re-stocked my bean supply! :-)
