ABOUT
An abundant life is a well-nourished life. We can choose our habits and routines and how we fuel and fill our minds, souls, hearts and bodies. When it comes to the foods we eat, nutrient-dense meals are key to building nourishing traditions for ourselves and for those we love. This blog is a record of my continued journey in cooking and creating shared experiences around the table.
Auberge is a French country inn. I'm drawn to the hearth that is central in these country kitchens, and the time and love invested in creating nutritious, locally sourced and seasonal meals. There is beauty to be enjoyed not just in the classical-country culinary arts, but in the art of hospitality and nurturing of community. One of my favorite all-time movies is Babette's Feast. It's about a woman who had enviable cooking skills, a strong and giving servant's heart, grace in adversity, and a remarkable unselfish spirit. Her love language is cooking as is mine, and she's my fictional hero...so Babette has earned a place at this table.
I have not yet arrived at optimal health after major surgery in May 2020...a Whipple to remove a pancreatic tumor...but I am in process and committed to continued and improved healthy choices. I invite you, and anyone who is hoping to achieve greater nourishment, energy, strength, healing, health and wellness, into this journey with me. I look forward to learning together as we make space each day to live out a well-nourished life and create inviting places at the table.
My inspiration comes from great chefs, nutritionists, gardeners and home cooks such as Sally Fallon, author of Nourishing Traditions, Richard Olney, Elizabeth David, Alice Waters, David Tanis, Matt Jennings, Yotam Ottolenghi, Judy Rodgers, Seamus Mullen, and my mother...a true homesteader and example of farm-to-table living and cooking.
I hope you enjoy my site and find some inspiration to prepare more nutrient-dense meals of your own!
